FAQs
I’m in Arizona, where do I take my car to get flashed?
evbtuning2026-05-05T20:18:19+00:00We work remotely out of a couple different shops here in the valley. Once the product is ordered and paid, we make an appointment for you to drop off your vehicle at the established location to do the ECU tuning. Should you want other services or installations done, you can discuss that with the shop. If we are doing work there, we recommend you do too!
I received my OBDII device, now what?
evbtuning2026-05-05T19:33:17+00:00If you just received your OBDII device in the mail, you will now want to head over to our Instructions page and select the instructions that matches the device you received. Make sure to read the entire page and follow each step to upload your file to us.
Where do I send my ECU in to get it bench flashed?
evbtuning2026-05-05T19:35:23+00:00Once we have your confirmed and paid order, we will provide you mail in instructions for your ECU. Make sure when you ship your ECU, you package it well, insure it, and send us the tracking number along with your order number so we can insure proper delivery. DO NOT ship an ECU without a paid order and shipping instructions.
I followed all the instructions and downloaded my file, now what?
evbtuning2026-05-05T19:36:46+00:00If you finished the process to download your file from your vehicle, on each instructions page you will see a UPLOAD FILE link. Click on this link and fill out the form with all the information and attach your file there.
I received a file back from you and clicked on it and nothing happens…
evbtuning2026-05-05T19:39:20+00:00Once you receive a file back from us, you need to go back to that tools instructions and go to the write process steps. The file we sent has to be uploaded through the steps that the flashing device tool requires.
I loaded the file to the car and now my car doesn’t start…
evbtuning2026-05-05T19:41:24+00:00First thing is try to flash back to the stock file. If the car will take the stock file and start, then everything is ok and we just have to remake the tuned file. If you run into a situation like this, please send a support ticket in with as much information including any screenshots, pictures, or what was done. We will accommodate you the best we can to resolve the situation.
I need to take my car to the dealer, should I flash it back to stock?
evbtuning2026-05-05T19:43:31+00:00The safest answer is to flash your car back to stock before you go to the dealer for any service. If a dealer were to do a ECU software update, it will wipe out your tune file and the end user tool will not work. This means you will have to pay a fee to get an updated tuned file and possibly reset the tool if possible. This is 100% your responsibility to decide with the dealer or service center.
I need to take my car to emissions, should I flash back to stock?
evbtuning2026-05-05T19:49:01+00:00Yes. You have to flash the car back to stock. If you installed other products on the car such as downpipes and you flash back to stock, you may have a check engine light which will cause you to fail emissions. We do not force ready status on tunes. You are responsible for all mechanical changes to the car and meeting local, state, and federal requirements.
If I add an intake, exhaust, or headers, do I need to reflash my ECU?
evbtuning2026-05-05T19:51:24+00:00The short answer is no. Most of these are bolt-on products which the ECU will adjust to. The only time a specific flash would be required is if this product did something with a sensor, had larger diameter piping, or was completely different than the stock function. We do offer enhancements at an additional cost but do not support every variation of mods out there.
I dynoed my car and the gains were much less?
evbtuning2026-05-05T19:54:29+00:00The numbers we quote on product pages are crank horsepower ratings. Chassis dynos will show you your wheel horsepower rating. This varies all over the board by dyno time, configuration, pump fuel being used, air pressure in tires (traction), fan setup to act like a rolling road, and ambient temperature. Some dynos will give you a 20-25% drivetrain loss where others may be 10-15%. If you did not do a before and after within the same day or week, its impossible to know what your actual gains could be. Not all cars dyno the same.
Should I run premium fuel in my vehicle?
evbtuning2026-05-05T19:57:17+00:00The reason you choose to tune your car is to maximize performance. The higher the quality of the fuel, the better the performance will be. We NEVER recommend running regular fuel in a vehicle that is tuned. If you are the type that wants to know if you can run Ethanol (E85) or race gas (100-109), the answer is kinda. Some vehicles have the fuel components factory that will allow you to run E85. Other vehicles it can be corrosive and damaging. You can always run race gas as long as it is unleaded. Do not run leaded jet fuel as this will damage O2 sensors.
I sold my car can I use the device on another?
evbtuning2026-05-05T19:46:45+00:00Unfortunately the devices lock to the vehicle VIN. Even if you flash the car back to stock, it is mated to that car. Some devices can be reset back to stock for a fee but this fee is close to the cost of a new device. We always recommend giving the device to the new owner when you sell the vehicle.
